So, a Frenchman, an Englishman, and a Vietnamese guy walk into a bar... during a pandemic.

Sounds like the start of a joke, doesn't it?

But this is no joke—it's the story of how UNO, one of the best restaurants and bars in Hoi An, came to be.

Vy, the bartender/sommelier extraordinaire, had been slinging drinks and pouring wine for 15 years at fancy hotels and resorts in Hoi An and Da Nang.

After all that time, he was ready for a change.

That's when he decided to open his own bar, Blue and Brews. Unfortunately, COVID had other plans, and his new venture was put on hold.

Meanwhile, John, the culinary mastermind, had been cooking up a storm for 25 years in Paris, England, and Bangkok.

He wanted to explore Asia in a more unconventional way, so he hopped on his bicycle and pedalled his way through Thailand, Laos, and finally, Vietnam.

When COVID hit, John found himself stuck in Hoi An, where he met Jamie.

Jamie, the intrepid traveller from London, had planned a ten-month trip through Southeast Asia.

When C hit, he had to change his plans and hunker down in Hoi An. It was during the city's second lockdown that he met John, and the two of them started dreaming up the idea for UNO.

At first, it was just a silly idea, something to pass the time during lockdown. But the more they talked about it, the more they realised that they might actually be onto something.

And when they found the perfect location—the site of Vy's temporarily shuttered Blue and Brews—they knew they had to make it happen.

After weeks of hard work, UNO finally opened its doors on December 18th, 2020. Since then, it's become a favourite spot among expats and tourists alike.



The three amigos have become the best of friends, and they've put on all sorts of events—parties, trivia nights, you name it—to keep their customers entertained.

But what really sets UNO apart is its vibe. It's the kind of place where you can kick back and relax, whether you're alone or with a group.

The food and drinks are top-notch, but you won't break the bank by indulging in them. And the décor—both inside and out—is quirky and fun, with plenty of Instagram-worthy moments.
